asked: You have a Lunar II artbook? Are there any photos of Leo in it? He is my favorite character from the game :)

There are quite a few pictures of Leo in the artbook, since most of the artwork is from the second game! I agree, Leo has to be one of my favorite characters; he and his storyline really grew with me. Actually I just love the Raculi trio of Leo, Ronfar, and Mauri way too much. Nall has still always been my favorite character ever, though. c:

This blog may not be dedicated to Leo, but I’ll see what I can do about scanning a few of the pages with him on it once I get my scanner hooked up again!

I still consider this to be the ultimate Lunar fanart after all these years. I admire all the effort the artist put into including just about all the important characters.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? You may have noticed the URL change! That’s because I’m going through with the idea to make this blog about the Four Dragons in general and not just Nall. I brought the Lunar I+II artbook to my dorm, so I might scan some stuff with Ruby and the rest of the dragons in the future. To kick off this new year (even though it’s probably not all that new anymore), I figured I’d do some fanart based on one of my really old pieces of art to show just how much I’ve improved.
Unfortunately it’s kind of late and I didn’t want to bother with the level of detail I give my more serious drawings these days, so what you get is the same composition, right down to the thing where I would always put the name of the character in the corner of my picture in those days, but with my current sketchy style.
I’d say that the above picture has come a long way from the picture below, even if I didn’t feel like giving my best effort this time around. I think the one below only took about half an hour anyway? I worked really fast in the old days.

Anyone remember the old Flying Cat Homepage oekaki? That was a fun place. I would have done the “remake” picture in oekaki format, too, but I’m afraid the oekaki I frequent these days has been down because the owner has had server problems.
I think I’ll start working out the rough pattern for my adult Nall plushie this weekend. I have a lot of leftover fleece from the Christmas present I made for my sister, so making a rough draft plushie shouldn’t be so bad. It’ll be black, but I won’t really care about color because the shape is what will really matter most. Color will come into play when I enlarge the pattern for the final product! I’m looking forward to getting started on it.

Just because I have the official Nall doesn’t mean I won’t be making myself an adult Nall, though!

I have already ordered a fair bit of fabric in preparation for the making of a big Nall; I’ll likely use some of the remaining fabric from the present I made for my sister to make a prototype so that I can see how well my pattern works out. Stay tuned for updates on the making of this monstrosity! All I can say is that he’ll be very big and entirely hand-sewn, so my right shoulder is going to be crying on weekends and holidays and all throughout May.

Oh, the things I’m going to put it through in my free time when I’m not busy with college stuff.

Merry Christmas, everyone! My personal collection grail has been acquired, as you can see. It was one of my presents after all. The seller included a really sweet note, too. I can assure him (her?) that this little guy will be in the best of hands. He’s sitting next to that 13” Jiji for size reference.
All in all, this Nall is a lot better than I thought he’d be from the pictures that had been floating around online. He seems rather durable and is for a fact adorable. He’s soft, too!
I think on the original auction the seller said that this was one of the ones Victor Ireland of Working Designs fame bought and brought over to one of the E3 exhibitions in the late 90’s, too. The more you know!
On another note, conversion of this blog into a general Lunar dragon fan blog will likely commence sometime around January 11th, when I am able to reunite with my scanner; it was too big to bring back from the dorm, so I’m not going to bother scanning anything until I can bring the artbooks with me to San Antonio. I also got the SSS Newtype artbook today! It’s mostly storyboards and character sketches, but there’s also high-resolution artwork from the cutscenes and some neat concept art that I might scan some time or another. There’s also some artwork that I remember the Flying Cat Homepage having, but maybe I’ll be able to scan it in higher resolution.
In the meantime, I will be thinking of something new to call this blog. It can’t exactly be a Nall appreciation station if I’m bringing the other three dragons into it! You guys are also still free to submit things, by the way. The submit box will always be open. Fanart, fanfiction, just about anything will be accepted (so long as it’s worksafe).

A new challenger has approached! Even though this is technically a Nall blog, I was meandering around in CLIP Paint Lab last night and suddenly doodled Ruby. Perhaps I should turn this blog into an all-around Lunar dragon appreciation blog, kind of like the old Flying Cat Homepage that’s sadly no longer in existence.
If I do decide to go through with making this an appreciation blog for all the dragons of Lunar, then, I’ll start scanning some new high-resolution material from the Lunar I+II artbook sometime early next year (while I work on the pattern for the adult Nall plush I still intend on making, too) to commemorate this change.

SSSC/EBC Nall it is!

I will be starting work on him sometime early next year, since I have another project for one of my followers that I intend to get done before Christmas (this project will not be named). All I have to say is that I intend for him to be big. No fun in having a one-of-a-kind plushie, especially of adult Nall (which I don’t think anyone’s done in the first place!), if you don’t make him big and huggable, after all! I think all Nall fans can agree that, especially after his subplot in EBC, he deserves a big hug.

This doesn’t rule out the chance that I’ll do one of his Sega CD design, though! In the far future, I may make one of him and give him away to a lucky fan. (;
